Sarah Margerison, BA
​PhD Student
Sarah is a PhD student and physical therapist. Throughout her practice, she has developed a strong interest in the brain processes associated with pain and is excited to use fMRI and EEG to add to this body of knowledge. She hopes to use what she has learned in the lab to improve management of musculoskeletal patients in the physical therapy clinic.
Somayeh Mashatan, MSc
PhD Student
Somayeh is a PhD student in Medical Biophysics at Western University. She completed her MSc and BSc in Biomedical Engineering. During her MSc thesis work at Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) in Tehran, Iran, she gained substantial experience in task design as well as in recording and processing EEG signals.
Yuan Yao, BSc (Hons)
Master's Student
Yuan is a Neuroscience Master's student at Western University. Before joining, they earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Honours at King's College London, United Kingdom and worked as an RA testing the efficacy of a global mental health intervention at the World Health Organization. Yuan is interested in how parts of the brain connects during different psychological states.
Eva Lian, BSc
Research Assistant
Eva is a research assistant at DAS lab. She has earned her Honours Bachelor Degree at University of Toronto majoring in Neuroscience and Economics. She is interested in investigating the relationship between the structures of the brain and behaviours, and also interested in science communications towards general audiences. Outside the lab, Eva enjoys music and winter sunshine.
Grace Vo-Edwards
Undergraduate Volunteer
Grace is an undergraduate student at Western University in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacolgy. Grace also works closely with Western’s Orientation program as an Off-Campus Soph to help transition first-year students into university life. In her spare time, Grace enjoys cooking, music and strength training.
Phivos Phylactou, PhD
Postdoc
Phivos is a cognitive neuroscientist studying the nexus between the neural underpinnings of working memory and pain. In 2019, he graduated as the valedictorian with a BSc in Psychology from Frederick University, Cyprus and received his PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the Cyprus University of Technology in 2023. In Feb 2024, Phivos was awarded with the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Post-Doctoral Fellowship.​

Chloe is a PhD student at Western University. She earned a Bachelor of Medical Sciences and Medical Cell Biology. When not in the lab, Chloe enjoys reading Shakespeare, running, and cycling.

Research Assistant
Erin is a research assistant at Western University in the Neuroscience department. Erin completed her BSc in Animal Behaviour at Western University in 2022 and is applying to the Ontario Veterinary College for 2025. She spends most of her free time breeding and competing dressage horses with her Australian shepherd, Lou.

Celine is a Master's student at the University of Toronto in the department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. She earned her Bachelor of Science with an honours specialization in Neuroscience at Western University, where she completed her honours thesis in DAS lab. Outside of the lab, Celine likes to spend her free time traveling, choreographing and trying new foods!
